Masa:Catering For A Cause

At 360 Eats, our work has always been centered around reducing food waste and alleviating food insecurity in our community. At the beginning of the year, we launched MASA to further support this mission. Masa allows us to bring Chef Ellen’s exceptional culinary skills to events while generating vital funds to sustain our food rescue and community meal programs.

We’re excited to share a little more about this side of 360 Eats!

What is Masa?

Masa is the catering wing of 360 Eats, a service that offers mouth-watering gourmet tacos, nachos, and bites for any occasion because, seriously, who doesn’t love Mexican cuisine??

We’ve catered for corporate lunches, fundraising events, festivals, and various gatherings giving us the opportunity to serve, high quality, fresh and flavorful food while spreading awareness about what we do in the community.

We get this question a lot, so let’s clear it up: Masa doesn’t use rescued food for catering. While 360 Eats is all about saving food and using it to end hunger, the Masa menu is made with store-bought ingredients for all events. That way, all food donations go where they’re needed most— feeding folks in the community free of charge.

Let’s Talk About the Menu!

Masa isn’t just mission-driven, it’s flavor-packed! Our menu, curated by our board member Ronicca Whaley, founder and chef of Shisocrispy, and our own talented Chef Ellen, combines the best of traditional flavors in the most creative way.

The Beefy Boi takes the flavors of a Cuban sandwich (a Tampa Bay favorite ✨) and reimagines them as a taco, with grilled steak, caramelized onions, queso fresco, and a tangy adobo crema.

The Big Belly is a fusion of smoky sous vide bacon, pulled pork, sweet maduro, and spicy candied jalapeños, all topped with a tasty garlic aioli.

Finally, our Cluckin’ Jacked taco offers either BBQ chicken or jackfruit (for our vegetarians and vegans 💚) topped with toasted sesame pineapple slaw, passionfruit guacamole crema, and a hit of pickled red onions for a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy.

And if you’re craving a little extra crunch, we turn any of these tacos into nachos, piled high with all the toppings and flavors described.

How Masa Helps the Community.

When someone books Masa for an event, the impact goes far beyond exceptional food. After covering the cost of ingredients, labor, and supplies, all profits go back into 360 Eats programs. Alongside grants, donations, and support from local partners, Masa helps fund the logistics of rescuing surplus food and keeping our weekly free meal services running strong, like the ones at the James B. Sanderlin Center in St. Pete and the United Way Suncoast Resource Center in North Greenwood.

As long as there continues to be food waste and food security, we’re committed to showing up for our community, expanding and growing so we can do even more. Masa helps with this.

Spread the Word!

In short, our catering service is a creative way for us to do more good. By serving up delicious food at events, we’re building a sustainable source of revenue so we can continue providing meals for those who need them.

We’re really amped to see what’s in store for Masa in the upcoming years, and we’d love if you could help spread the word about our food truck! If your workplace sometimes provides catered lunches for staff, let them know about our insanely good tacos. If you’ve got a special occasion coming up, we’d be happy to serve you and your guests.
